IN(n)-LAWS...

Would I be way off the mark to say that the last place most people consider for a relaxing weekend getaway is their in-laws house?
Probably not.
Then again most people don't have in-law's like mine.
I hit the "in-law jackpot" when I married Jake.No joke.Even before I had met them or been to their home,I would have long phone conversations with Jake's mom Nancy.I felt like I had known her my entire life. Some of my favorite mini-vacations are spent in their Bear Valley Springs "retreat".It doesn't hurt that it only takes forty five minutes to get there from home if I'm driving. When Jake is behind the wheel it takes about an hour and half. The time differences occur because we first have to feed his Starbucks addiction which adds about ten minutes and secondly Jake is always "cucumber calm" and his driving reflects this perennial state of being.Admittedly,he is the safer driver but I draw the line at saying he is a better driver!
Every time we get there,no matter what, they package us inside the homemade blankets and for a while every hurt is healed...every problem resolved....and every hunger fed.Besides being with my late grandparents, the Hogue home is where I feel safest...and you couldn't find a better meal if you tried! Here are some pictures of our most recent stay in mid-November....
