If you had the money and fame that she does..wouldn't you at least try and attempt to get dressed???

Wearing some sort of Ugg boot hybrid, Daisy Dukes, a Mrs. Roper muumuu crop top and her regulation '70s nana shades, Britney Spears -- and her bodyguards -- on their daily trip to Target....(copied the words and picture straight from TMZ.COM because they put it so brilliantly...)

NEVER FORGET...........

Like most everyone else alive when the attacks on our country began on September 11,2001 I will never forget what I was doing.I was here (KGFM) doing the show with my co-host at the time Doug DeRoo when one of the board operators came around the corner and said a plane had crashed into a building in New York.Eventually we stopped playing music and just let you call in....all day.
The day is truly a blur except I remember crying alot.I also remember driving home and watching the faces of people in the cars next to me.Everything seemed so quiet,I was scared....WE CAN NEVER FORGET!!!!!

Labor(lazy) Day weekend

Not alot of "labor" going on this weekend. For the first time in a long time I didn't have to work the holiday. With zero dollars to our name we just did the weekend on the "cheap".That means other people fed and gave us free entertainment(Thank you Dr.Vip and Jodi Dev, Jennifer & my soccer girl Ky)...
Being broke bites..I wouldn't recommend it. Thank God for good friends and family(love ya Bob and Nancy).
Here are some pictures...and yes Jake was there but as you know..No pictures of Jake allowed on the internet..lol

It only takes 2 seconds for you to be gone forever..

I've been guilty of texting while driving.I've done it for two reasons. The first being that it is my chosen form of communication with work (which is who I'm always on the phone with) and secondly..I can do it without looking.Neither of those reasons is an excuse and yes,I know it is illegal.I won't be doing it anymore, this PSA will show why..
There is alot of debate going on about whether this is an appropriate video for teenagers to see about the dangers of texting and driving. I say "Hell yes,it's appropriate". Take it from someone who slammed head on into another car on Truxtun extension the first day of my senior year 1992.The reason? I was fast forwarding my Garth Brooks tape and started veering into the lake.I wasn't paying attention..over corrected and slammed into a woman heading in the opposite direction.I injured her and myself. This video reminded me of something I had forgotten.Take your eyes off the road for two seconds and you could be gone forever.

Recent studio visitors

We welcome visitors of all shapes and sizes to the studio.Amazingly they stay even though Dustin smells.... haha

From top to bottom: Ron Warkentin from the Bagelry checks in to promote his $1 bagel dogs every Tuesday. Bakersfield Californian CEO (& Dustin's dream future father-in-law) Richard Beene stops by to talk about the new "tabloid format" of Bakersfield's favorite paper! Author and buddy Nicky B (Nick Belardes) stops in to talk about his latest book "Random Obsessions" which is available at bookstores everywhere.

Eggs,milk,bread...Oops! Forgot the Ecstasy pills...

I wonder how the drug dealers who abandoned their Ecstasy filled van explained to their bosses that those 260-thousand pills they were supposed to sell, ended up in the hands of Kern County law enforcement officials.
Dustin and I got an anonymous call this morning that the story being reported by alot of local news sources isn't totally factual. Then again the caller was anonymous.....
Some sources say that there was a van blocking someone's driveway in Lebec so the CHP was called and it was towed. That version of the story goes on to say that authorities then got a tip that the towed van may have a bunch of drugs in it,so officers went to the tow yard and found what amounted to be a record amount of the drug.
What actually happened ,according to our anonymous source was this: The 2003 Dodge Caravan was found abandoned on the freeway with part of it's roof ripped off. Upon closer inspection officers found some duffel bags filled with drugs. After getting the van towed, they went through the whole thing and discovered the huge amount of pills as well as 4.5 pounds of methamphetamine. In total, the drugs were worth about $3 million on the street.
While the people or person who abandoned the van on the freeway would surely get a prison sentence if caught, there is no doubt in my mind that whatever punishment their drug "boss" hands out would make a jail stay seem like ecstasy.

The Kern River...It will eat you..

(no clue who the people in this picture are.I "borrowed" it from Flickr after typing Killer Kern into google.Hope all of them lived, but you never know!)

When I was a little girl my mom and step-dad used to take Dustin and I out to the Hart Park with their friends while they would "set sail" for a day of "tubing" down the river. At 8 years old I already knew the reputation of the "Killer Kern". As a matter of fact, one of the friends who always stayed on the shore and watched us did so because her own brother had died in that river.Nonetheless it's still a huge attraction for locals and out of towners. However, as much as it's publicized that DYING IS A REAL POSSIBILITY if you get in,people still do..everyday.The river has swallowed four people in the past two weeks and I'm sure there will be more before summer is over.So am I the only person who no longer feels sorry for the people who drown? It's not like they weren't warned.Ugh

"We had him" by Maya Angelou for Michael Jackson..

Here is the poem Maya Angelou wrote for Michael Jackson and was read by Queen Latifah at MJ's memorial ...

"We Had Him":
Beloveds, now we know that we know nothing, now that our bright and shining star can slip away from our fingertips like a puff of summer wind.
Without notice, our dear love can escape our doting embrace. Sing our songs among the stars and walk our dances across the face of the moon.
In the instant that Michael is gone, we know nothing. No clocks can tell time. No oceans can rush our tides with the abrupt absence of our treasure.
Though we are many, each of us is achingly alone, piercingly alone.
Only when we confess our confusion can we remember that he was a gift to us and we did have him.
He came to us from the creator, trailing creativity in abundance.
Despite the anguish, his life was sheathed in mother love, family love, and survived and did more than that.
He thrived with passion and compassion, humor and style. We had him whether we know who he was or did not know, he was ours and we were his.
We had him, beautiful, delighting our eyes.
His hat, aslant over his brow, and took a pose on his toes for all of us.
And we laughed and stomped our feet for him.
We were enchanted with his passion because he held nothing. He gave us all he had been given.
Today in Tokyo, beneath the Eiffel Tower, in Ghana's Black Star Square.
In Johannesburg and Pittsburgh, in Birmingham, Alabama, and Birmingham, England
We are missing Michael.
But we do know we had him, and we are the world.

The Michael Jackson I loved was the performer who covered my walls from 1983-1985 when I in elementary school. The Victory tour was the first concert I ever saw.I even had a black cabbage patch kid and named him Michael Jackson.Being the troublemaker I was back then and not having control of a chaotic home life,I gathered my friends one afternoon and went off campus for lunch. We were 10 years old and off-campus lunch wasn't legal. The principal found us there and my punishment was to rip down all 147 Michael Jackson posters I had up on my wall.I cried for days...I lost him then and slowly grew out of my elementary school obsession.Nonetheless,I am sad for his life and sad for his death despite what others say.His music was a very happy thing in my room when things around my house were not so happy.

I'm not pointing fingers but.....

Not sure what you're seeing in this picture? It's what Jake says is a bottle rocket. An ILLEGAL firework. It was left on our doorstep with a little note that said "Light-en up Legan". The BPD officer around the corner has the "evidence" now .I'm not that much of a loon to be mad or start some type of neighborhood war,I actually laughed. However I can't help think about the post below this and wonder. Hmmmm? Who could've heard me on the air or read my blog and left me such a thoughtful gift? Idiot....

Jerks in your neighborhood setting off illegal fireworks? Here is the number to call..

Maybe I'm just getting old or maybe it's that at 35 with a 17 year career waking up at 2am,I'm just getting cranky.Whatever the reason I AM SO TIRED OF THE ASSES IN MY NEIGHBORHOOD who piccolo pete and bottle rocket their way into, during and out of the 4th of July holiday.I used to enjoy seeing the colorful fires in the sky as much as the next person but I'm good with safe and sane. If you've had it like I have, here is the number to the Fireworks Task Force here in Kern. 868-FIRE(3473) .That number goes into effect Friday July 3rd and is good until Sunday July 5th.Use it.

A Joey Porter weekend

Generosity is the real name of the game when it comes to Miami Dolphins linebacker Joey Porter and his wife Christy. The Bakersfield natives who remain part time residents held their fifth annual Joey Porter golf tournament and Boot Camp this weekend .101.5 KGFM was happy to start the week with Joey calling in from Miami to give the listeners a rundown of the upcoming events as well as some of his "Joey-isms" like how he was "catching some tanning time" before coming home.I was fortunate enough to again emcee the golf tournament dinner and awards show at the Bakersfield Country Club.Joey remained the star of the event with his hidden talent as an Auctioneer.Seriously,it was incredible to watch this man who in my husbands words is a "sack specialist" sack average bids for higher ones. This annual ritual continues to amaze me.Not only do Bakersfield residents (mostly men) donate dollars for a chance to play golf with some incredible football players, but local companies also donate product. Tacky or not my jaw continues to drop when six figure checks are written in the hope that charity survives these budgetary diseased times.Speaking of survival,Joey's Boot Camp doesn't mess around! Joey's agent Jeff Sperbeck put it to me best when he simply said Joey is a natural born leader with a commanding presence. That energy was everywhere Saturday as Dolphin teammates like Jake Long,Ronnie Brown,Nick Fasano,Ricky Williams, and Akin Ayodele ran over 300 Bakersfield kids through some pretty demanding drills. The players did not disappoint and you could tell the kids didn't want to let them down.8 year old Colby Warkentin said "Wow,this really is "Football High school" referring to what some of the kids mistakenly believed was the name of Joey and Christy's Alma matter Foothill High.Whatever the name,it doesn't matter. In the end the Porter's hope is that they can facilitate growth in the philanthropic community through their own leadership. If seeing is believing, then I can speak to the couples commitment.Thank you Joey and Christy!
Special thanks to BARC as well as sponsors :Bakersfield Country Club,RLS Industries,Advanced Fabrication,Tahoe Joes,Famous Daves BBQ,TIC,McKee Electric,Venom,Advance Beverage,Bakersfield Audi,Mercedes Benz ,Delano Farms and all the participants!
